3 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Tracking Safari
3 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Tracking Safari gives you a wildlife adventure experience of Nyungwe Forest National Park in the southwestern part of Rwanda. Get ready to visit Nyungwe Forest National Park for chimpanzee tracking and a canopy walk giving you a beautiful view of the forest. Nyungwe forest is one of Africa’s oldest rainforests with dense Afromontane forests, bamboo-covered slopes, grasslands and swamps.
Day 1: Welcome to Kigali City and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
You will arrive at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda, and will be received by one of our guides who will welcome you to Rwanda and brief you about your safari. Thereafter, you will be transferred to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way, we’ll make stops at places of interest including local markets, and the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. In Butare, visit the Botanical Gardens and a cultural museum. We’ll have lunch after our stops. We’ll drive past green fields of tea scattered across the hillsides along with small wooden houses unique to the areas surrounding Nyungwe Forest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and afternoon canopy walk
Sheltering the highest population of chimpanzees in Rwanda (roughly 400), Chimpanzee trekking is a major activity done in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Have your breakfast and transfer to the trekking point where you will first receive some briefing on the dos and don’ts during chimp trekking. Thereafter, enter the forest to encounter these fascinating and human-like primates firsthand in their natural habitat.
Return to the accommodation for lunch and some rest before going out again for the canopy walk experience. The two hours walk starts and ends at the park’s headquarters – Uwinka information Centre. Travelers walk on the built trail which hangs 60 meters above the forest rewarding them with an aerial view of the national park, wildlife, adjacent communities, Virunga volcanoes and attractions in the neighboring countries.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali/ Kigali International Airport
On this last day of your safari, you will wake up on a chill and delicious breakfast at your lodge. Enjoy the last feel of Nyungwe and start on your journey back to Kigali City.
It is about 4-5 hours’ drive so you will Kigali in the right time for lunch, and then proceed to the airport for your flight or check into your hotel for more adventures in Rwanda.
